Hey, does anyone know what to torque this new 'nut' to that goes on the sector shaft? It is the one that will have the bearing on it that this brace holds in place. . . . . The factory service manual for an '01 says to torque the factory nut to 185 ft. lbs. and I just want to make sure this new one is up to that challenge! Thought I would ask if any one knew for sure. (I'm getting ready to put one on a '99 and then an '02. Later on, I will have to check to see what the torque is in the 3rd gen FSM . . .)
Thanks,
Dan

Blue Loctite and as hard as I can with a 3/4" breaker bar works for me. Once you're around 200ft/lb. it's not making alot of difference a few pounds one way or the other.

Gotcha.
I bought one from Vulcan Performance. I can't wait to get it installed that's for sure.

Thanks for the info! I got messed up installing the 2nd gen ones. I may have gotten out of one and the other will have to wait until the guy gets back from vacation. Hopefully mine will be here in the next few so I can stick it on! . . . .

I think I'll be putting mine on today; what size is the sector shaft nut? What size is the new one?

Thanks!

Install was a breeze. Definitely makes the steering feel more solid.

Believe it or not I just bought a reconditioned gearbox from NAPA for $148.00 plus core w/ lifetime warranty. The dealer wanted $118.00 for just a new seal. I also went with the dynatrac joints for $535.00 (mass buy on this forum) and a stabilizer for $189.00 from Larry, see below :
