By steering stabilizer are you refferring to the thing on the front of the truck that looks like a shock mounted sideways or are you talkin about the cross member that ties the two frame rails together and houses the steering shaft.

If you lookin for the shock type part try doing a search under steering dampener to find what your lookin for.

the steering box support? yeah, they're available for 2wd's. I have one on the shelf right now that I'm soon putting on my dad's 2wd 97 because the gearbox sector shaft bearing is worn pretty bad. got it from BDPowerDave on here.

from a maintenance standpoint, it's cheaper than a new gearbox; and a new gearbox is going to have the same bearing smoked and seal leaking pretty before too long, just like the last one. as for road feel, the steering feels a fair amount more responsive. I really like the brace.

It's pretty likely that if you have someone start the truck and turn the steering wheel back and forth in quick little turns, while you've got your hand on the pitman arm, you'll be able to feel or maybe even see the sector shaft sideplay.

with 285's you're a good candidate for the steering brace, especially if it wanders noticeably more with the tire swap. check your sway bar bushings and end links, too; makes a noticeable difference when those things are shot.

Believe it or not I just bought a reconditioned gearbox for my '03 from NAPA for $148.00 plus core and lifetime warranty. The dealer wanted $118.00 for just a new seal.

A stabilizer kit with everything for $189.00 from Larry, see below :
