Are none of the glowplugs working, or just some? If just some of them, Your valve cover gasket connectors could be bad. Or the pig tails under the valve covers could be shot. And possibly (going out on an unlikely limb) the connection thru the gaskets could have been the cause of the initial problem. Rooting around in there, you could have knocked a wire around so it connected better. Once again I say it's unlikely. Odder things have happened, so don't go nuts discrediting me guys.

And yes, a stuck open thermostat would cause the EBPV to go back and forth. What does the engine temp gauge say? If it says the truck is warm, and you still have trouble with the EBPV closing, just unplug it.
yea the truck still blows white smoke and it doesnt like to start at all and it lopes when it does fire over. now when i cross the gp relay the truck starts right up like, first crank, and it doesnt lope.

and yea the temp guage stays just above cold, doesnt even get a 1/4 of the way up the guage.

thanks for the input but i've said before the valve cover gaskets and wiring harness in the valve cover have been replaced, its all new and all the connectors look good, i looked them all over before i put it back together.

My real question is; Is there something from the controller to the gp relay that im missing here?

And you said you replaced the relay right?

If you're tired of the EBPV closing on you, there's a two pin connector on the turbo pedistal that can be unplugged without hurting anything on the truck, and the EBPV will stay open all the time. Once you replace the thermostat just plug it back in.

And I'll see what I can dig up on GPR's and such. Sounds like a bad sensor might be tellin 'em not to turn on, but IIRC, I think 7.3 glow plugs always come on, no matter engine temp.

yea the relay's new, this is the second one i tried just to make sure i didnt have a bad one.

yea i know about the ebpv connector, ill just leave that until i get a thermostat.

thats what i thought, but apparently the controller for the relay is good, im just wondering if there's something inbetween thats causing that signal not to get to the relay. and yes the gp's do come on no matter what temp the motor is. they just dont cycle once the motor's running.

thank you.

so i have done some research and i have found a procedure for the gp's not working, there are in fact two fusable links after the gp controller, located near the starter relay which is on the passenger fender im assuming, the links are not there, im thinking maybe under the dash? i cant seem to see anything on the drivers fender in that big wiring harness, i need a little help here. i've got it narrowed down now.

new thermostat is on the way to correct the ebpv opening and closing.
