Default replacing the t stats

Guys I hate to sound like a dumba$$ here but I don't want anything unexpected come up. How do you replace the thermostats on the engine. Do you just take off the long tstat housing and is there 2 tstats there in series or is it some other way. My truck only runs at about 170degrees at about 70degrees outside and on a long trip only gets to 180 the book says it should run 200degrees. So I think the tstat is stuck open.

Yep you got it. The housing is a one piece unit that houses both T stats.

Not really for 70* if you had one stuck open it would take more then a short run to get it up to 170*.
