On the subject of Oiled Filters - yes and no. If the customer understands the risk benefit ratio and they can do the checks they are ok. We run TDI's various years with AFE stage 1 kits and not a single one of them has had issues with the MAF. That isn't to say that it can't happen to the customer but after nearly 40,000 km on each of these units I highly doubt it.

Also, MAF's can be cleaned or replaced much easier than a dealership will tell you.

These are MY opinions and MY experience. I don't expect everyone to agree and that's cool.

ANYWAY.....seen any issues with the Crusie Control, say on the 2002 Jetta's? Mine hasnt worked from day one....and im tired of keeping my foot into it. AS these cars aint no Cummins in Stock form..........

Im currently looking for some sort of schematic to aid in locating wires and such....but any "hot issues" with these you seen at the dealership?

Have you had the recall done of the vehicle for the brake light switch yet? If not I would start there. (PM me your vin# and I can check) Have you had the ckeng light come on? I have seen when the ckeng light is on, or if it's been on, it will cancel out the cruise control.

 

HAHA....well you hit 2 for 2 i think.....i have a cooant temp sensor that needs changing because the GP's wont cycle (Wish i had VAG-COM to check the actual reading the GP controler is seeing). BUT i have it unplugged at the moment so it will start with in reason on these 28* morns. SO yeah...the MIL is on.

PM sent. I sent you a PM before reading your post. I think you may have solved your own problem. These V-dubs are real sensitive with all systems tied in to each other.

 

Im starting to see that....man.....its like one system tosses a fit...and then all the others have an intervention to get that "Prodigal Sensor" back in line!

 

how are these rigs in the snow?
the wifey car now has traction control and it sucks!

i don't mean going down the road, but like a friends snowy drive way. with just a few inches of snow. once it stuck, thats it!

it won't rev up to rock the car to get it out of the snow.
doesn't take much snow to get it stuck it's rediclious!

also with all the plastic there's no where to put on a tow hook to pull it out of the snow.

 

The VW's need snow tires - not all seasons, but real snow tires and for the most part you are fine. Get a real skid plate and go slow. The tow hook is on the rear bumper underneathe a piece of plastic on most models.

 

My first drive in the snow with our 2002 sucked....but i didnt get stuck....wish i had the Dodge at the time.....

My hook is molded into the unibody just under the rear bumper.....

Dont know if there is a fnt hook.....Just use the core support!
