505.01 is VW's special oil for the PD (pumpe Duce). I've tried getting a straigh answer and all I get is "it's special" and if it's not used it can void your warranty. My best guess is that it's a no/low ash oil like what is required in the new 6.4 PS, 6.7 CTD, & 6.6 LMM.

Dealerships mostly. You just have to really look for it.

Default Two TDI's

I posted this elswhere before I found this fourum. I have two TDI's in the family, an 05 Jetta wagon and an 06 New Beatle. Is there an air intake/filter system that will give me any noticable power increase. How about some of the systems made for the 1.8 turbo gasoline engine?

We do lots of work on VW diesels. AFE makes a great intake and the Oil can be purchased based on spec from many locations. Do a search for total oil - used to be called Elf Oils.

Cheers

Nope! VW has there air/fuel ratio so dialed in, that you won't notice any difference. You will just get the benefit of a re-usable air filter. I must also warn you about the oil air filters, if over oiled they WILL damage the MAF sensor!
