From what I can tell unless your car is set up as a WVO system you will encounter problems with it - esp. in colder climates. The problem stems from purity, flow rates, consistancy and your ability to filter it properly prior to it reaching the injection pump.
BIO fuels on the other hand have an incredible way of cleaning things out - particularly a old fuel tank - so, with in adequate filtering of the cars system you will cause damage there too. Best bet is to install a series of rating micro filters - say a 18, a 12 and a 8 or a 6 in that order to the pump. I know many people that run VW's on anything from B10 to B90 without any issue.

I've heard the opposite. More problems with Bio vs WVO. I started a thread in the fuels area to try and come up with some answers from users.

I was under the impression you were in / around the VW repair side of things , so I was looking to see what has been coming in with alt fuel issues , to pass on for those that ask .
Now you have made for more questions than answers , with an ever growing amount of data on alt fuels , the statement " more problems with bio vs wvo , requires details , because that is the opposite of a lot of info I have seen .
Any details ?

You can do that but your economy drops off the planet - to the point of less than HALF of what you would expect to get. Personally, take it off and clean it every once and a while is better. He probably doesn't drive it like it is stoilen either I'd imagine. The TDI must be driven at 3000+ rpm shift points or it starts to go south quickly.
