Default 2001 PS won't shift out of first

I have an 01 PS with 128K miles running the Predator economy tune that doesn't want to shift out of first gear. I checked the levels and the fluid looks good but smells a bit burnt. I don't tow very often, and when I do it's not very heavy.

Earlier today I noticed a noise but thought it was a rock stuck in my brake caliper after they recently chip sealed my street. Later I took the truck out to go to dinner and it made the same noise but it also didn't want up shift. If I stay in the throttle and leave the truck at about 2500 RPM it will eventually shift, but it takes about 15 seconds at that RPM to do it. On the off chance that the tune was corrupted, I changed to the towing tune, but saw no change.

From what I've read this kind of sounds like a throttle position sensor issue, but I wanted to ask the forum. Also, is there a way to test the TPS before replacing it?

Thanks in advance

$2970: new non-slip torque converter, new valve body, spiral overdrive snap ring and a few other upgrades. All less expensive than a Ford Reman. Came with a 2 yr warranty.
