with all due respect, there isn't a silencer ring on the stock garrett turbo. like the other people have said, that's a cummins thing. and i believe they have a holset turbo. and if you would have to cut it out, then it is permanently fixed to the turbo.

and i think the t66 turbo is a cummins thing as well.

How about you leave your turbo the way it is and let it do its job the way it was built to run... If you want loud, Straight pipe, air intake. That's it. That's what you get. Like i said before, if you want to bring the boost faster, 1.0 housing. If you want smoke, chip and injectors OR remove turbo OR put bag over intake. Your stock turbo is fine.

The PSD silencer ring is on early 6.0's cast into the turbo. Called a 20 year Ford Diesel Tech., and that is the only one he know's of. He's never seen one on a 7.3. He did say if there is one, it's a CA thing more than likely. He is a dealer guy, so I don't take it as scripture, but that's his input on it.

dodge uses the holset turbos, ford uses garret. i have rebuilt my turbo on my 96 and just like everyone else has said THERE IS NO SILENCER RING!!! my truck is loud as hell with the factory downpipe to a 8 inch cat stack. and the easiest way for smoke is to put a bag over the intake.
