Default edge comp/smarty stack tuning question

ok guys, i know theres already hundreds of threads on this, but nothing i found really answered the question im looking for.

Anyway i have an unlocked edge comp and am buying a smarty dirt cheap from a guy. Mainly buying smarty for tire size recalibration and the ability to change torque settings, injector duration etc. I am aware the comp and smarty both add timing and that the stack is proven to reduce power on the top end.

My question is if i run the edge on 5x5, and i run the smarty on a low to mid level NON timing setting, say sw#4 will i still see a drop in top end power as im keeping the smarty levels down? ive played with smarties on my truck before, but not since i did engine build or for a long enough period of time to really test anything. Heres the MAIN list of my current mods if thatll be of any help to you guys.

edge comp unlocked
64/71/14 turbo
7x0.011 injectors
184/215 cam
dual valve springs
billet pushrods
o ringed and p/p head
afe bladerunner intake horn
3 pc exhaust manifold
sbc 3600dd

etc etc

just lo0oking for personal opinions/thoughts on how id like to run this and see where it goes from there.

yes you will still lose top end power...

the problem is that both the smarty and edge do canbus fueling.. both doing fueling at the same time causes a power drop.

the best smarty stack would be with a TST box as it ONLY does wiretap fueling. so the smarty would not interfere at all making them work together rather than against each other..

another okay stack is to set smarty to timing only, and use an adrenaline w/pulse fueling box and turn timing off on the adrenaline...

rather pointless though since there is no gain or loss running with smarty timing or adrenaline timing...

you will feel more low end power, but overall you will have a significant top end power loss.

I set my Smarty to Lv3, reduced the timing, increase torque and duration. That was my typical set up. I left the Edge on stock, and if I needed a little more power I'd turn up the Edge. That was my daily driver/towing set up. Never tried racing, 1/4 mile, or sled pulling.

Default superchip

Im going to check out a gup selling an older version of a superchip. I dont kno what model it is. He wants $100 and says that it will work. He said it gives you 75 hp. I know I should be able to feel the difference but other than gping to a dyno how can I tell that it worked?

I would avoid superchips like the plague... I have heard a lot of horror stories of fried ECM's from a superchips programmer...

smarty is a better choice than a superchips if you are going for a "programmer"

also smarty comes with excellent customer support and if your ECM gets messed up, bob can send you a recovery tune specific to your truck that you can download into your smarty and reflash the OEM vin specific programming into your ECM via the smarty.
