I have done a little research on it before and I know u have to put a super duty clutch in it, fabricate your own cross brace to support it, and you have to get your drive shaft cut as the ZF 6-650 tranny is longer than our ZF 5's. I also think someone said it was a really tight onmthe floor board and they had to beat it up with a hammer a little bit.

the ZF 6 is much taller. i would do it right and modify the tunnel instead of hammering it out. the flywheel should be the same dimensions. the wiring shoud be the same... but you only get a low gear with the swap. how often do you need a really low gear?

i dont need a lower gear. i was wondering though i had a 99 6 speed and at 65mph it ran about 1800 rpm this truck runs about 2100 to 2200 rpm at the same speed. im just trying to git a little better fule mileage.

It would be easier to swap rear gears

my 94 with a ZF5 has 4:10 rears. my 99 with the ZF6 has 4:10 rears. both are at 2,500 RPM at 75 MPH.... you won't gain anything
