rough idle, no power when in drive

Sounds about right... they run about $900 from Ford without programming... I can't imagine paying that much.

Shoot me a PM if you want, I've got to run to the post office tomorrow to send EricC a FICM already, I can send both out tomorrow if you want one. PM me, we can discuss details.

reading your questions and answers, very nice and glad to be here. I noticed you said the ficm can be tested, is the test done on the motor or is unit removed? also is this test something i can do? thanks scott
p.s truck was running good, started right up, had battery go bad and now truck is hard to start if will start at all now, mo power stumbles a lot on freway, also smokes when cold and zero power when cold... any help, i am on medcal leive right now and almost broke, back to work in 2 weeks and must have this thing fixed...any help please

Heres the thing, my batteries went bad too. Once they are bad the ficm gets fried form the low voltage. yes soeme ficm may have bad solder joints, mine did not. Put in a ficm from ebay for 250. Ran much better but in the end still needed one injector.

Yes, very simple to test. You'll need a multi-meter, a buddy to turn the key and a couple small hand tools. A t-20 torx bit will be needed as well on a ratchet.

ok batteries did go bad, one was replaced. now truck wants to start but just cant seam to get there. i would think its starving for fuel but with this motor who knows?

Batteries should always be replaced in pairs. Usually the old one will just drain the new one faster. Did you check the FICM?
