Some of the scan tools are pretty pricey. It might be worth finding someone who has Ford VCM and IDS to use. Or taking it to the dealer.. it's better not having to throw parts at it.

If you already have a labtop to use, you can get Autoenginuty with the enhanced Ford bundle for about $350, and it will do all of that and then some. It's very useful tool and quite popular with the 6.0 crowd. You can do almost anything with it.

I agree with 03powerstroke, really need to see what is going on with the high pressure oil side and check the ICP actual vs. ICP desired. IPR duty cycle will also be important to watch while this is going on.

Do you know anyone else with a 6.0? Even though you're getting good readings on the FICM, sometimes it can still be bad. You could always try swapping with a buddy just to see if it works.

I went to the dealer yesterday. My service advisor is like the stereo type swindler. When i was under warranty the replaced everything when i had a problem. With him its always the worst case scenario. With him overtime you do brake you always need rotors. I then went to a different sealer for brakes on my expedition. This time your rotors can be cut. I thought this guys honest. I then brought my f350 in for a oil change. When i got home I noticed a crease in two of my toll box doors its a utility truck. I took a closer look and you could see paste and and a buffer wheel marks. They denied everything. They are the closest dealers.

I don't know anybody else with a 04 or 6.0. When i spoke with the dealer 200 or diagnosis. Said it could be the injectors and there pricey. Said if its the film its 900 for the part. He got me really scared.

I am not a diesel expert, first one ever owned. Bought it for the supposed longevity of it. 72000 on it. Lots of problems. I know gas a little better, Go carts and dirt bikes all my life. Fuel, spark or air. It seems to be getting fuel, it seems to be getting spark, it seems to be getting air. Its just some damm computer or sensor.

I hear you on the dealer services, trust me, I've got you beat. The last time my truck went in for puking coolant and a slipping trans. Dealer never touched the motor, rebuilt the trans and it took almost 2 months. Oh, and the decided that answering the phone and calling me back was too much work, after I left numerous voice mails. Also just realized the trans is now leaking trans fluid... Nice.

Do you have those codes? If you have those codes I would suspect a bad FICM, even though they're injector codes.

For the FICM, I can repair it for you for far less than that. I even have spares I sell. I could always send you one to try out if you don't have anyone to swap with. I've done that for a few guys before too. If you don't have anyone to swap with, shoot me a PM, maybe we can get you set up with one to try out.

The dealer is right, 900 for a new FICM, plus labor, plus they have to program it. They do also sell half shells now for about $400, but again... my fix is much cheaper!

Plus if you buy a new one it will have the same weak flaws as the one you have now and will more than likely mess up again, having your current ficm fixed is the cheapest and best way to save money

Yes I do have these codes Mdub. I don't don't have anybody here to swap with. Maybe try what you said so I can at least rule out the ficm.

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

Funny thing. I was looking at a diagram of a ficm. and the description for the three connection on the underside. The middle one says " C1388B (X2) Connector: Injector Control, Cyl. 2,3,5,8". The same cylinders I have code issues with.
I wonder if its the harness wires. Maybe just a loose connection. My ficm tested good with 46-48volts. So maybe, hopefully, wishfully its just a connection or harness issue. I am going to check it out tomorrow . If not i probably try swapping out the ficm. What do you guys think?
