The 5R110 also has a thermostat on it, so it needs to be heated to be fully flushed, most guys just bring it right to the Ford dealer for this process. I believe it opens at around 180, and I usually can't even get mine to that temp driving it around.

The Ford stuff is Mercon V I believe. It was quite specific, it wouldn't surprise me if you could get something equivalent though!? I've just used the Ford stuff personally.

Is there a good way to get ALL of the old fluid out of the tranny and torque converter, this is the second time for a fluid change. the first time they just flushed it and did not change the filter. This time I'm going to change the filter and hopefully all of the fluid. just did not know how to get the fluid out of the converter? any suggestions.. also I'd heard about the t-stat but thought it was in the cooler? can you bypass to do a fluid change? thanks .

I don't know about the Ford trannys, but on the Dodge you can loosen the valvebody bolts a little and then it will drain back most of the fluid out of the torque converter.

For anyone that might've been curious, I put half a bottle of the Tranny Conditioner in and I did notice a difference. I'm not saying it runs like its a brand new tranny but the shifts are a bit smoother now. I'd recommend it. Now to just get my coolant puking condition under control. F*$K!!!!!
