When the tow/haul starts to flash, it's usually not good at all. Mine would do this when I tried using tow/haul. It would shift a gear or two then just stop shifting and lock it into whatever gear it was in and the light would flash. Trans needed a complete rebuild.
Are you running any mods on it? Do you tow really heavy with it? These transmissions are VERY stout, usually the only thing that kills them is a generic programmer (ie, banks, bullydog, edge, etc)

I know there was an issue with one of the shift solenoids in these trans, it would stick and cause these problems, might be an easy fix for a dealer, can't believe I said dealer but it might be your best choice for this as they should be familiar with it.
