Default Transmission question

Hey everyone, New guy here. Name is Chris. I just bough a 1992 F-350 that has a 7.3 idi in it. I am pretty happy with the motor and the truck for the money I have in it.

My question is this. At some point in time, this truck has had the original E4OD replace with a C6. It is cobbled in there to say the least. The truck still has all the wiring for the original trans still in it. I would love to have overdrive back, but I don't even have a trans to rebuild right now. I have found a 1992 e-250 van that had the diesel in it at a local salvage yard, and I can get that transmission for less than 200 bucks. What I am wondering is if it will swap into my truck like the original trans would?

I do intend to rebuild this trans if it will work, but I want it to be the right one for the truck.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the quick reply. Getting that flex plate won't be an option, as someone has already scavenged the motor from this van, and they took it with them. Does have the TC still in the trans though, and it is VERY clean inside the TC housing. I still have a long way to go with this project, but I think I will have a fairly nice rig when I am done.

I guess the flex plate is different between the two transmissions, so I will be on the hunt for one!
