IIRC there was a fella on here who did a 4bt in his 03 f150 or one of those years right around there. and it was EXTREMELY tight from what i could tell with the pics. it could very well be doable but definitely do your research before you pull it all apart to find out it wont fit

it can always fit, as long as you are ok with cutting/ relocating things. While we are suggesting other trucks, the older 87-96 bodystyle has tons of room in it, i also took my inner fenders out so i can work on the engine from the sides, almost like an 18 wheeler with a tilt hood.

Thats it just make it a tilt hood.

From what Ive heard, there are space limitations on doing a 5.9 in a 97+ versus our trucks. Anything is possible with enough time and money, I just dont want to lead him on thinking a 5.9 will slip right in his engine bay like it did in mine. But it would definately be cool

The engine bay is tight on them my brother has a 01 changing the coil packs on it was a pain on the passenger side.It might fit but i think some beating on the firewall would be in order to fit.

You could look for an old box truck. bread van. There are alot of those out there with 4bt diesels in them. I know a guy here local that as bought a few for his conversions. He strips them of their drive train, then cuts up the body,(usually aluminum) and the body just about pays for the purchase price of the van.( depending on what scrap is paying at the time).
Thats my .02 cents.
