6bt in a 2002 F-150, can it be done?

I have a 2002 F-150 supercrew 4x4 and the ole 5.4 is going out! i think i want to do a solid axle swap with leaf springs up front with 1 ton springs and axles. and drop a 12v cummins with a nv4500 tranny. i know that the clutch linkege would be a problem as well as just fitting the dang thing in there (cummins lol) id just like some ideas on prices and diffulculty
thanks, justin

if you can do the axle swap, you can do the engine no problem. You shouldnt even ask, just do it, unless you just want more motivation to do it when the haters come out saying buy an f350:rocking::rocking::rocking:

BTW im running a stock 88 f150 master cylinder with a stock 91 dodge slave, works perfect.

Thanks guys! Ill do some homework and try to figure out what all i need to do. what do yall think about a 4bt. im looking for about 400- 700 hp and about 1000 torque? is that doable

Oil Field Trash 10-24-2011 05:33 PM

I have a 4bt head and block forsale

4bt with those numbers... that will not be cheap. I would recommend a p pumper for those numbers but I'm sure you already know that. If you like doing all that work more power to ya but you can pick up cheap f250 super duties with 5.4's pretty cheap then you have a heavy duty enough truck to just drop the cummins right in, just my .02. :tu:

JUSTIN_MOORE 10-25-2011 10:36 PM

how much do you want for that 4bt oil field?

Oil Field Trash 10-26-2011 04:58 PM

idk like i said its just the bear block and head. i dont know much about it, it was given to me by a buddy who was moving and it was just laying in the barn

i think a 4bt would be cool, but since they never put them in a pickup truck, when you find one, you still wont have the parts you need. I bought a 91 dodge truck for 1900, literally had everything i needed, the only thing i bought for the swap was new dodge motor mounts, about 25 bucks. the way i see it, a 6bt ends up being cheaper.
