if i use a lazier temperature gun will that tell me what cylinder may not be firing

yea you'll have a cold cylinder, and 350 egt's while towing seems low now that i think about it.....

now what exactly do you mean by it "chugs"? it skips and hops and idles low, or it just drinks fuel???

it has a ruff idle and every time it shifts into overdrive at a lower rpm it is not smooth it is very jerky and it shakes the whole truck

Yes it would... Your truck will start with no glow plugs at all... These are compression fired motors, the only thing the glow plug is used for is to heat the air a bit to help with cold starts.

I would suspect a blown intercooler boot. Or a blow turbo.


Could also be a bad UVC plug or harness...
