Now this has been a real common issue ever since Ford went to the inductive heating strategy for cold starts. Symptoms of a failing FICM are hard to start cold, no start cold and sometimes rough idle and die out upon starting cold. In this video I show you how it sounds and more importantly how it looks when it is failing on the scan tool and what codes are common. A quick replacement portion is also included. Now you can rebuild the FICM with parts kits through Ford but this one was not rebuildable and I show you why. I hope this helps.

 

Could it be possible that the FICM is not functioning because of a bad relay? Sorry if that's a dumb question. Kinda new to messing with the FICM unit
