95 12v starting issues
Hey guys started having an issue with my truck tonight. Went out to start her and she cranked and started, but died immediately. After this happened about 6 times I decided to prime the pump and same thing, starts and dies. So I put my foot on the pedal and cranked her and it starts fine? It starts hard though you can really hear the starter winding.
I just turned the idle up a week ago where it should be at 750-800 in drive with the AC on. Before I had done this it seemed to be struggling a bit to start. After adjusting the idle it cranked over and started perfect until tonight. I've checked the injectors, lines, etc no cracks or leaks! Is my lift pump done for?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm supposed to be driving 200 miles on saturday to camp and I don't know if starting it by holding the pedal down is going to get me by long enough to get money for a mechanic to look at it

Went to goto the store and it won't start at all now, not even pushing the pedal down. I have no idea what's going on with it, and it's my daily driver....ugh

Well it's not the pump. I was playing with the fuel shut off solenoid and if I manually raise it the truck starts fine. The boot is mangled all to hell so I'm thinking it might be binding with the spring under it. It does not raise when the ignition is switched on. I'm going to take it off today and examine the boot etc. The solenoid itself does not look burnt, does not smell burnt, and the lead wire going to the battery appears to be fine.
Could this still be a relay issue? even though it works when I manually plunge the solenoid??

Well I think this issue can be closed. The boot was destroyed and wrapped in and around the solenoid spring. I removed it and cleaned the solenoid with some WD40. The truck starts fine now!!!

Yea, I saw that thanks a bunch for that link that's everything you need for a starting issue. I'm going to order the new boot as soon as I get paid next week. Should it be ok un-booted until then?
