Default Smoke Fines In New York

Today I had 4 diesel pickups towed in to shop the were impounded and fined for bellowing black smoke. The fines were $250.00 for the first offense and can reach up to $10,000.

I was totally shocked that there were going after the smaller trucks.

The officer that was doing the ticketing was in an unmarked car.

So watch out!!!!

Glad I live down here where you dont see that to often. I don't think I have even heard of anybody down here getting a ticket for that.

This is the second time that have seen this. According to the officer, all states will be starting this very soon.

New trucks come with DPF's = no smoke or soot output.

After talking with the officer, I found out that he was a federal agent and this is a new federal program that is being implemented. If the states do not comply with this program, they will loose a large portion of there states federal highway money.

If what this agent told me is true, the states will have no control over this.
