I'll throw my opinion in. I'm an old dude and have had, rode, tested, abused a lot of atv's. If you've narrowed it down to Cat's or Polaris then good for you because they are both made in the USA. I settled on the Cat because of it's ability in the mud and overall toughness. Polaris isnt a bad bike. They do tend to be heavier and have a few trans issues. I would NOT get a bike with power steering. IMO there is no place for that in trail riding or mud riding. Just something else to break.

 

One of the guys I ride with has a POLARIS 800 4X4, his polaris is always over-heating !!! We have to stop and wait for it to cool !!!

 

man i wouldnt go with either all we ride in mississippi is honda we give them hell and they last for ever but i if u going pick out of them 2 polaris cause my boy spent 12 grand on his acrtic cat and he braught wit us and he didnt have enough power to pull tires in the mud it was sad

My 2007 ARCTIC CAT 400 4X4has enough power to get me thur anything, and the rare and few times I've been stuck, it was not lack of power, but lack of traction !!!

 

12 large for an ATV?? You can get a ThunderCat for less than that, and a T-Cat has enough power to turn ANY atv tire in any mud.

 

I went riding with one of my friends, who owns a POLARIS SPORTMAN 500, we went thur some water, a little deep, but both my ARCTIC CAT 400 and his POLARIS 500, went thur with no problems, then a week later his POLARIS won't start, but my ARCTIC CAT did, I though he had a bad battery, He took it to the shop, and they told him his FLYWHEEL had rusted to the starter and a switch went bad cause it got wet, AND THE WARRANTY WON'T COVER IT. He had bought the 4-year warranty, and they told him it was his fault it broke and every time his POLARIS breaks, the shop tells him it's his fault !!! Now he is pissed that he paid for the extended warranty $600 and never been able to use it !!!

 

We have Yamaha's and Arctic Cat's and I love both altho the Arctic has the most clearance of all and honestly has been put through hell and still runs!! and runs good! Everyone has their own and opinions and are entitled to them but at our house all we will own is yamaha and arctic cat..

 

YEAH I would buy ARCTIC CAT, SUZUKI, YAMAHA !!! If I get a great deal maybe POLARIS ???
