try to follow the harness from the fuse box under to hood to inside. check for main connectors and connections at firewall. go ahead a unplug connectors, look at pins inside for corrosion or heat damage. then reconnect and retest.

I had to take a break on this project before I really jacked somethin up. Got back on it today.

Put the meter on the fuse panel and started pulling fuses to see which one was the problem. Turns out I have a constant 1.12 amp reading at the main fuse panel until I pull the ignition fuse and then it jumps up to the 12. somethin volts it's spose to be. So somethin from that ignition wire is the issue, just still can't see where it runs to from the fuse panel.

Damn I don't wanna have to pull this whole dash out. All the ventilation controls and vents, the steering wheel, damn I don't wanna do that.

Think we finally found the problem on this and yes it was a ground.

A warning to all. That small wire that comes off the ground cable of your battery has a use. It supports all the the grounds in the truck, without that connection all your other grounds are hit and miss. Lesson learned for me.

I changed the battery and cables a few months back and didn't see any need for the small 2nd wire that comes out of the negative terminal so I just left it hang there. Come to find out that it is what grounds the whole frame and body so that all your other grounds work dependably. Without this wire grounds are hit and miss at best.

doh! good thing to remember everything has a purpose especially dealing with circuits. i have been known to add extra grounds to my vehicles. eng-frame, eng-body, body-frame. etc... you get the point

anyway i hope all is well now. good luck
