Folks im on 4 "major" forums dtr compd cf and here and 99% of my time is in the tech sections (1st and 4th gen cummins on all 4 of em mostly cause thats what i own and know about.)
I could care less about the badlands and most of the other topics.
seems we need to clear out and slim down the unused posts, promote the armory more and get control of the db facebook page. (im over there and its mostly a joke of nonforum members.)
The totm is a great idea altho ive yet to enter.
How about we enforce the search button and stickys for basic stuff,
and encourage members to post up builds of their trucks and maybe get sponsors to pick a build to help out. instead of a picture battle why not a build off...

Im here to learn and help folks about compression ignition trucks
aint that what this site is about?

I would love to see this take root. That would likely increase the number of posts in the tech sections a lot. Right now there is no incentive to do it. If one had a chance of getting free stuff for his/her build then more would be participating in the diesel part if this site.

I know the duramax forums are weak and I spend most of my time there trying to help out the new guy's with their questions but I think we can attract more people if got this part more balanced with the Cummins and powerstroke forums.

As to the bad lands, I do not care for them. I do not see how they help better the site that needs to concentrate more on diesel related items. If I want ****, the internet is overrun with sites much better at providing the need with out any passwords or post limits. You can keep unrelated forums, but keep them limited to a few and try not to make them more attractive then the tech sections.

my 1/2 cent

I was just appointed to admin on the facebook page this week actually. It's tough though, because that page and this forum really are not alike in any way, and in fact most of the clowns on the facebook page are not even members here... trying to change that, but you know how that goes.

I brought up an idea that I was going to make and run for Diesel Bombers and every time I bring up something I am shut down.

Now that I brought up the idea of making a sportsman of the month challenge, occasionally prizes, but most of all for the fun of sportsmanship. Either Archery, Firearms, Fishing, etc and posting a photo of how you've done. No Voting or Biased side but rather a Random Number generator to pick out the winner. Then it's a fair lottery and then you've got something to attract sportsman to the page and getting that side going.

Also don't just do TOTM and then just have a link to it, post their photo into that link section because they've earned it. I also believe no moderator should be allowed to place their truck or vote on the TOTM, that brings a biased opinion.

We have tried to get more recognition to the winners ans sponsors of TOTM. It is not something we Mods are able to do, and help from above is in short supply. As for voting, TOTM is open to all members and always will be. No one on staff can enter though.

When a member comes to a moderator with a problem it should be dealt with and acted upon. It's y'all's job to keep us in line.
IF a Mod is able to deal with the problem, they will do so. We are limited to what we are able to do.

Both of these items you brought up, along with the idea for the Sportsman's Den are examples of why we need Admin around, or more support from IB.

I think we need to focus on the diesel side, not sportsman or badlands section. That section isnt in trouble plenty of activity there.

IMO all mods should be introducing themselfs to new members, find links rather than tell them to search, (tapatalk app doesn't support it) after they say thanks delete the new post maybe give them a heads up about that part that's all I've got like I said its all my opinion

I see where your coming from utahford but these mods arent paid to be here, they do this on their own free will so they can't be on here 24/7 to do that.
