Here's a diagram comparison that I found. I'm NOT saying this is an authority of how to set up your fuel system, but it does address the spring in the filter bowl as well as a complete bypass of said filter bowl. Note that in the page bypassing the bowl, there is a sump on the tank, ie the picture that Mdub posted.

Most just run a line from the AD2 forward, to a "Y" then feed it directly to the front of the heads. The factory fuel return is in the bowl up on top of the motor where the fuel filter is. The AD2 is internally regulated though and there should be a return line from the pump to the tank. So you can bypass the upper filter housing and effectively eliminate the factory regulator setup. That's the cheapest/easiest and best way to do it.

Doesn't matter, the system is just going to be regulated by whatever is at the lowest point.

I guess I need to read up on how the AD2 is run... You have install diagram or something? The factory return line is still run to the pump? Then the pump has a return to the tank? What a mess.

You can just run straight to the heads and eliminate the fuel bowl up top, then it doesn't matter where the return from the bowl goes.

yes there is a return line going back to pump from engine
there is a feed line going to engine
there is another line going to return to tank ( there is a y tube ) shares
then a line going from tank to pump

I just want to remove the factory reg or spring for now
this winter i will probably go straight to banjo bolts

You can't just "remove it".... then there will be an empty hole and fuel will go right down the return line and you will never have pressure.

I've read you can use the 6.4 oil filter housing and eliminate the fuel filter up top, then just run right to the heads. I'd eliminate the banjo's too. Just run line right to the heads using 90* fittings.

i have to fix this problem

so i will remove the fuel bowl completely

Run a direct line from the aire dog to a T connection ,,,

Then run to each banjo bolts on each head

Then what do i do with the return line back to the air dog

Plug it???

Thanks

In the mean time when i install the new pump i was thinking of bringing the PSI to 50 instead of the 60 i was running

Hey Jim,

Did you get your setup worked out?

What did you ultimately use/do?
