That's not a frequent problem. We've sold hundreds of AirDogs. We've been selling them since they were first release, when they were called the Fuel Preporator. We've only had 2 customers call us since then with the motors going bad. If I remember correctly the manufacturer replaced the motor on both free of charge. Back then they had somethining like a 7 year warranty. Now all of their pumps have a lifetime warranty. Either way you should be covered. Give them a call and see what they say. If the pump is going bad, and not the motor, then I'd be interested in knowing why if I were AirDog. Could be that it's not getting enough fuel to keep it cool, causing it to burn up. All of their 150GPH and higher units require 1/2" fuel lines to get them enough fuel otherwise they can work too hard. I'm wondering if that is part of your problem. Is your fuel line kinked somewhere or have a bend in it where it's getting constructed? Take a look. Good luck.

What's the regulator set at on the AD2? Is it the factory spring, or do you have the blue spring up in the fuel bowl?

***Side track for just a second***

Are these tanks metal or plastic? I am looking in to a low profile bulkhead fitting (yes there is such a thing) to gravity feed my pump instead of sucking it out of the tank.

Thx

Karl, that's what the billet sumps are for dude...

I think I've seen plastic and steel... might depend on bed/cab config and year the truck.

Ooooh purdy...

$150 for a sump on a flat tank (but thats another rant), or $20 for an AN bulkhead fitting? Not too hard to do the math there. BTW, if my tank is so low that I would run the risk of uncovering the fitting, I should have filled up BEFORE I got to that point, huh.

Guess it's magnet time.

Tough call. How is AD handling it? I've heard their customer service is really good. Maybe try changing the fuel filters earlier instead? How many miles have you put on each pump? You say changes are at 30k, how many miles are you driving this thing?

Have you bypassed the factory fuel bowl or are you still feeding there? What is your regulator set at on the pump? Maybe it's fighting itself against the factory regulator?

I have read about ADII systems and completely bypassing the OEM regulator and filter on the motor. It makes sense because the AD system has its own pump and regulator. Basically, you plumb directly to the banjo fittings.

However, given that it instantly popped the fuse (and I am FAR from an electrician) I would look over the wiring for chaffing or something else abnormal.

where is the regulator??
How do i remove it?
if decide to bypas everthing and go direct to banjo bolts
What do i do with the return line to the air dog 2 pump
Or better still where does the return line come from (the Bowl) ??

thanks
