New to the Forum ?'s about SCT

The stock headbolts didn't change at all with the 6.0's, they're the same throughout the years. The heads themselves changed a few times, but nothing that would keep it from blowing over any other setups.
Your chances of blowing gaskets are typically increased running generic programmers like the Edge units (mostly the older Edge units), bullydog, predator, etc. Stick with good custom tunes and USE YOUR HEAD.

I don't know what you define as "older" but I got my Edge summer of 2006. I'd have to say that the best part about it was the defuel feature. If the temp wasn't right, it wouldm't give you the full tune, that probably saved me a head gasket. It was a good learning tool, but since i have switched to SCT, I wouldn't go back to any generic tune piece.

I'm not actually sure when they did the switchover, but since you DIDN'T blow a headgasket, my guess is you had one of the newer ones. The old Edges actually were about on par power wise with a custom tuned SCT. However, it did so in a quite unsafe manor, and it DESTROYED trannies. Edge's answer was to cut power across the board to save transmissions, thus the new lower powered Edge's.
The defuel is nice, but it doesn't win races! Just put a piece of tape over the pyro and go!
