Default 05 King Ranch with SCT tuner

Hey All,

So I have a 2005 F350 6.0L Powerstroke. I bought it used about a year ago and it had an EGR delete and an Edge Juice system on it, the engine is not bullproofed. On occasion it stalled out on me or didn't want to start. Previous owner showed me the plug in system for the Edge tuner had some slop and by wiggling it the truck would start or stop trying to stall on me. I simply removed the Edge after it stalled on me more than once in a day. Since I have had it I had a kidney loop coolant and oil filter/cooler system installed on and installed a new 4" turbo back exhaust with no CAT. I also purchased the new 2015 SCT tuner with switch on the fly. The tuner is most recent and has been on maybe 3 weeks but my truck is not my daily driver however I have made a couple decent trips with it since. With that history on my truck I have a few things I am looking for guidance/advice/info on.

1.) I like to be able to monitor things which is why I really wanted the tuner. As of right now I cannot get an air flow reading. I checked that the MAF is connected and wiped the end of the sensor gently to remove debris but all in all it looked pretty clean. The senor I check is the one on top of the air intake. Am I checking the right sensor?

2.) Another large reason I bought the truck, have added the secondary filters, exhaust and added the tuner was to get improved gas milage, however I have seen to change from the 13mpg I started with. At best I have seen 13.2mpg. I have even been driving conservatively recently as an experiment to improve it and am seeing no difference. The current tune I am using is the "STREET" tune for those familiar with the tuner. Suggestions or thoughts on why my MPGs are soo bad?

3.) Also, I reached out to where I purchased the tuner from because I was concerned about how my truck is now skipping 4th gear with the tune, no matter how gently I accelerate. Their response was " that's normal because its a powerful tune". Insightful I know....Anyways, is this normal?

On another note, I forgot to mention another trait that has me a bit concerned. Remember, this isn't my daily driver. Over the winter, even when the truck had been plugged in I noticed it was hard to start. Didn't think much of then given the winter we had and it always started but with the warmer weather I still notice it and it seems like it's struggling even more. When I check the battery it tests good so is there a chance I'm starting to have a fuel delivery issue? If I am, am I doing damage driving it? Or should I charge my batteries anyways and possibly replace them?

I have an sct also, and it shifts hard in towing performance or street. don't know why. you can adjust shifting pressures though. I turned mine down and it helped a bit. also is your truck a dually? my srw f350 used to get about the same pulling a 9500lb load. (ext cab short bed on 33s)

Hard starting after cold soak or all the time? If just after cold soak u may need glow plug relay. All the time u need to know ficm volts (48?) and desired vs actual oil pressure to injectors
