I prefer the manual because to me its more fun to drive. But if your looking for speed the auto is the way to go. It's also depends if you can afford to pay for a well built auto transmission.

How about comparing apples to apples? Comparing custom built autos is not going to be a very fair comparison. There is a wide range of upgrades that make them go from little better than than stock to virtually bulletproof, depending on what you spend and who is building it.

The manuals are (in stock form) more reliable and will work harder before they break.

shure you can push the button to make it shift but it doesn't shift instantly. If it did then they would have something. Only way I can hold 6th gear on a hill at WOT is to stay above 80 or let off the throtal. In manual mode it should not downshift on its own. Atleast till untill it has no choise downshift or die.

I would disagree with the manuals in stock form being more reliable only because of the clutch in front of it. I had to replace the clutch on my 06 at around 12,000 miles and that was with just the TST Got

I have a auto on my 2010 but I sure miss the manual when towing.

$1,000 clutch and it will hold anything you can throw at it

Clutches are to manuals as torque converters and billet parts are to automatics.

It just depends on how you want compare your apples and oranges.

I had a South bend DD 3600 in my 06 dually. It was tough (lots of sled pulls with twin turbos) and it was great for towing. Only problem was the clutch noise. it was down right embarasing to me because eveyone thought something was wrong with the truck.

I have always said that a stick was the way to go! But now the new auto is one heck of a good auto. So I will go with the auto. I pull a 38Ft fifth wheel camper. Now I would like to have the auto. Too old to buy a new one.
