What brand would you go with. What kind of boost would come out of the 62mm would I need head stud bolts.

The dilema I wanting to avoid, is once you start boosting your motor more, The more aftermarket stuff you'll need to have. Thats why I only want to add a little more boost.
What is a J-Hook and whats its supposed to do. Sorry I'm still learning all this stuff with diesels. I'm by far not a rookie with a wrench, just haven't messed much with diesels.

Just watch blocking the wastegate on hy chargers. They are a very tight charger and charger overspeed and drive pressure can very quickly get to the danger zone....much faster than a hx charger!

Maybe I can help a little with this topic.....

Boost is ONLY a byproduct of fuel, heat, and air. What I mean by that is, without adding more fuel you are not helping anything by trying to override the wastegate. You "can" J-hook an HY or plug the wastegate on an HX but you'll only gain a little boost and in reality.....you're not accomplishing anything. Increasing boost without adding fuel gains NOTHING. Without trying to complicate things more, boost by definition has more than one job. Boost not only increases the volumetric displacement of the cylinder but it also pushes out the hot combustion charge, increases scavenging, and reduce EGT's.

Also, a turbo cant just spin as fast as you want it to. All applications will have specific limits per the model and design and thats called mapping. The mapping of the HY35 is around no more than 30 psi and 35 psi for the HX35. Anymore than that and they are no longer benefiting but now creating heat and lowering HP. Also, at stock boost levels, the HY/HX are spinning at around 190,000 RPM. Thats pretty fast so you can only imagine how fast they're spinning when they're making 35 psi. What happens when you have the impeller spinning that fast is the turbo becomes more susceptible to potential damage or failure.

So really the point I'm making is that there is far more than simply wanting more boost.
