want more boost?? What can be done?

My truck is a 01 CTD auto tranny. so after looking at the differences of the hx hy. I have the hy. I'm curious if there were some tricks I could do relatively cheap without swapping turbo's. to gain a few more pounds. MY truck is basically stock all thruout. When its maxed out the guage reads 15-16lbs. I don't care to take the turbo off, maybe modify it some. my budget isn't allowing a turbo swap right now or if ever. I'm not using this truck to pull sleds, just a weekend truck pulling the occasional car trailer. Like said would like a few easier psi's.

you can turnbuckle the wastegate, or swap on a regular hx35 which can be picked up cheep

I was able to plug the waste gate off on my HY. The tube and pot was to be removed. I then threaded a machine screw into the tube, blocking the air passage, and ground the head off to match the OD of the tube. Reinstalled, and went from 18 to 34 psi.

Is there someway I can do that without completely blocking off the wastegate. I don't want to much boost where I will eventually lean it it out. stock injectors only programmer is an edge ez.

it takes fuel to make boost so you wont lean it out your fueling will simply limit the overall boost

So, you removed the metal tube going to the waste gate, plugged the hole off in the turbo housing. Why did you grind the bolt off to put the tube back on. Am I understanding what you did correctly?

Ok, so aslong as it isn't throwing more fuel at it, the boost would only stay a certain amount? What about EGTs? Seeing I'll be running with a blocked off turbo, I'd really need to keep an eye on the egts. I've got guages, haven't hooked them up yet. have pyro, boost, fuel pres., and trans temp. I also, have an airdog 150, I just bought, still need to get it installed.

correct just watch the egts, more boost dosnt allways mean lower egts. sometimes the added drive pressure can increase egts just depends

you can buy a j-hook for the hy and it will still have a functioning wastegate. even with stock injectors and an edge juice I made 28psi

Whats the J-Hook and I have afe stage 2 intake, Smarty, 110hp injectors and I'm putting out 36psi which is alrite because i getting good power with my truck. The bad for some people is that my egts are getting up to 1,400 but im alrite with that.
