Default Boost Pressure

So I bought my truck used with about 80k miles on it, and several pre installed upgrades already in it. The truck has ALWAYS ran at ~40+ psi at 75%-80% Throttle (Speeding up on highways to merge, playing with buddies). The PSI readout was on my EDGE CS screen, so I invested in a POD to ensure a proper reading. Evidently my EDGE wasn't lying. Now with that said, I did set my EDGE to alert me at 41 psi (which is does), and defuel at 42 psi. I checked to see if the engine had studs, but it looks like factory bolts (square indention on top of bolt)..

So here is my question, the turbo has Holset 3 stamped on it, and the wastegate is factory, is it normal to hit such high boost pressure even with the edge set on stock, tow, drive, race and extreme? I have yet to see my boost drop while under throttle! I do not know if the wastegate is stuck closed or what is wrong! The only time the boost drops is when I let off of the throttle.. any ideas? Should I remove the defuel set point / alarm and see if I can get the wastegate to open?

40-43 is not hard to hit at all, I don't have an edge on mine.

Everything I found is 30-32 psi and then the stock wastegate should dump..

Im gonna remove the limiters on the edge that I set and go 80-90% throttle and see when the pressure drops.

chances are you also have a "boost fooler" with the turbo. It's easy to overlook. It's a brass fitting that supplies info to the computer, via wastegate. the fitting is kinda choked off to tell the computer that you are pushing less boost than actual. the drive pressures are pretty high at 40 psi [stock turbo] but you don't have to worry about lifting the head at anything under 50 psi. just don't get too throttle happy until you've reached a good operating temperature. The stock turbo will push 45 psi relatively easily. the internals may have been upgraded??

Ok so I called edge today and gave them all my info. The technthat I talked to has simular mods to mine and states he runs at 43-44psi with stock head bolts. Further he advised the edge has a built in boost fooler, and comes with a brass elbow for the turbo to wastegate connection... so there we go.. crisis averted. Thanks for all the help.
