So.... what visually should I be looking for ? I'm really worried that there is a piston issue. If I can get it to stop smoking out the tail pipe id be happy so I cam have some time to build what I want. I want to make dam certain that it's in fact injectors before I throw away 1800 bucks. So I just popped the hood and I'm diving in. How will I tell if the injectors are the culprit for all the white smoke ?

I did a coolant system press test it's good, no coolant in the oil. No oil in the coolant. Injectors are put and some of the tips looked like they had quite a bit of soot/carbon build up on them 2 or 3 did not. The first cylinder when I pulled the feed tube out no fuel dribbled out like the others. Everything looks and appears to be good. I loozed into every injector hole and it had some fuel and oil that sitting there which should tell me that the Pistons should be ok? No holes or burns? Do you think I'd be safe to throw new injectors in?

Well injector job done! Truck still smoking............ I think we got a worn cylinder....... when I first fired it up it didn't really smoke I was pleasently suprised and overly happy until I reved it up and she started smoking white, after a short drive it's back to the same issues it started with. I had the batteries unhooked through the entire job and when I started it the check engine light was back on with the same codes as before. With the addition of a low turbocharger psi code. Is there anything other than worn rings or broke pistons that will cause the tremendous amount of white smoke out the exhaust? Trying to stay positive that it's not the motor...

Pretty sure it's oil at this point. It started knocking then stopped then started knocking again and didn't go away. It will not idle now and it runs very rough and just pours white smoke.

Man I am sorry to hear about all this could it be a leak somewhere in the induction system?
The low turbo pressure would either be a large leak at a boot . or the engine is just not able to spin the compressor enough. does the turbo spin free?

Get a rail pressure reading! You may already have a burnt piston broken rings or shot bearing! You really should have got the camera in the holes when you had the chance!

Yes it really really sucks, the motor is toast now it's nocking it won't idle and it's rough rough rough. Now I've been searching for a salvage motor just to get back going but they want like 5-6 grand for a 180k+ engine that's just absurd! A reman motor is only 3500-4k and a complete engine from cummins is only 8k. So I don't know what to do at this point. It's a really nice truck I want to put a motor in it but these prices are unreal. I can get a compete powerstroke for 2k all day long.I have a brand new set of injectors if anyone would like to purchase have less than 20 miles on them..... any advice would greatly be appreciated in getting this thing back on the road reliably and pocket friendly.
