Nope, no need for that.
It's really an easy job, just take your time with it.
For those without air tools, you can get the barring tool from Cummins to keep the motor from rotating while you unbolt the harmonic balancer (damper).
I did mine a few months back, and I also had the updated gear case so the tab wasn't needed.
A little trick that helps is to put the gear cover in the oven for a few minutes, and the new seal in the freezer for a few as well. It makes it a little easier to get that crank seal into the cover when doing so.
