Questions On EGTs And Fuel Pressure
most people say 1200* is the best to do, you can go higher 13-1400* for a very short time and not cause no problems, my friend in his 12v buries his pyro at 1600* and he hasnt melted nothing yet.
I definately wouldnt recommend running EGT's over 1400 for any length of time on a Cummins.. its not good. The V-8s tend to run considerably hotter, so 1400-1600 isnt as MUCH of an issue. But in all honesty, with proper tuning you should really never see over 1400.
Pre and post turbo makes a difference too.
Mine's pre-turbo and I keep it under 1300 when I'm hauling.
A guy could get it up there into 1600 for a few seconds at a time and I'm sure it would be fine, just don't get in a long hard pull and stick it at 1400,I melted #6 at between 1350-1400 for about 2 minutes.(the piston was a beautiful golden brown)cost me some green
