Got a 99 RAM with cummins. All stock and has been running great. But now it starts, surges 5 times and then either dies or idle very low and weak. No throttle response. It first happened last night. All I did was turn the key all the way off, pull it out, try again and it started right up and drove home fine.
Started it first thing this morning but just started, surged and died. That's all it would do.
I pulled the battery cable 5 minutes, put it back on and it started right up and got me to work fine.
Now I'm at work and the truck will only start, surge 4 or 5 times then die (or idle very low/weak). Lift pump is good, Passed OBD test, I'm clueless. Actually I'm leaning towards an ECM but I sure would like to find another human to verify this.

 

 

 

Did you ever find out what the issue was , mines doing it too . Just replaced the VP44 and the lift pump yesterday and throttle position sensor
