I know its a long shot but have you replaced the speed sensor on the back end of the trans? I was having issues with my truck shifting in and out of lock up, replaced the speed sensor ( 24$ at vatozone) and haven't had any issues since.

I had been testing and inspecting the truck whenever I could. I have tested the TPS sensor (tested good) ran over and over wiring harnesses and cleaning wires/grounds.

Ended up having a fuel issue. Had to replace the transfer pump and when we did we came up with an internal error code for the injection pump...have not changed that out yet.

Could the injection pump not working correctly/not enough fuel pressure cause this shifting problem we are having?
In short, yes...

If the engine is down on power, it requires more throttle to get the same acceleration. With more throttle applied, TV pressure in the transmission is increased (TV cable) and the valve body delays the shifts.

Output speed sensors do sometimes generate weak or erratic signals, or fail altogether. At about $15, they are cheap. All my builds get a new one.

And FWIW, the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are hydraulically controlled (via an electronically generated governor signal), the 3-4 and TCC are electronically controlled. There is no 5th gear in a 47RE...

The shift pattern for the 47RE is 1-2, 2-3, TCC lockup, unlock/3-4, re-lock TCC.

One other note I would add is that I ONLY recommend the Borg Warner HD governor pressure solenoid, especially with any kind of elevated line pressure.
