well i lengthened the rod about 3/4" of an inch today and same exact problem still. hasnt got the slightest bit better. if i try and start it in gear it just wants to launch itself.

could i possibly just have a bad clutch fork and pivot ball would that cause my problem?

or can i lengthen it even more than that? i look up in there and its definitely pushing in on the fingers of the pressure plate, but for some reason it just wont disengage.

well i just got off the phone with peter from south bend, and two words explain him: GREAT GUY

he told me the way i have my setup, my chevy master isnt pushing enough fluid tho open the dodge slave all the way. so he's sending me a slave out of a 94-97 jeep 4.0 that is a smaller diameter shaft that is a smaller tube and he said it gives 1/2" and some times even more travel ADDED to a stock dodge slave because with a smaller tube and more fluid it expands further.

it should be here tomorrow so ill try it out and let everyone know!

extending the clutch rod will not effect total rod travel.

you need a different master cylinder....

EDIT - just read your last post...

extending the rod on the master cylinder will effect travel, but as peter stated the chevy one is just wont do it. Sounds like you got her figured out.

peter from south bend also told me the rod will not affect travel if the master doesnt push enough fluid because it just sucks the rod up further in the slave cylinder. but i dont know if itll work with the correct hydraulics or not

well i got the new slave cylinder from south bend this morning and installed it, and everything works right now! now i just gotta fix my shifter that broke in the process.

the slave cylinder came off of the 94-97 jeeps i believe with the 4.0L. its a direct bolt in unit and the line is the same size. so if anyone ever has this problem there is your answer.

so NO a chevy master cylinder WILL NOT work with a dodge slave cylinder, the dodge slave is almost twice the size tube as the chevy master is
