Default dowel pin problem

My friend said he needed a new front main seal but that wasn't the problem, the problem was his dowel pin came out and cracked his timing case cover and i just read 2 threads with the same problem, I have a 12 valve to and I was wondering if there was anyway to prevent this problem?

yeah, weld it

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

there are actually kits that are sold to fix it but just tack it in
