the aluminum tailshaft housing on my trans is cracked n leaking. i was wondering if its really necessary or worth the extra $$$$ for the cast iron housing from quad 4x4. anybody else had problems with busting the stock ones? the trans has been leaking since i swapped it in so i dont think its anything i did
i really miss my truck, but every time i start puttin it back together i find somethin else broken....

i just had a discussion with bobcat67 about this a couple days ago. Do you have any idea why it cracked? I've come to the conclusion there shouldn't be that much pressure on the part to begin with, and a cast iron one will just wind up cracking the t case instead. I could be wrong though.

 

i have no idea why it might be cracked. why dont the manufaturers add some type of support to the transfer case instead of just lettin it hang from the tranny???. i'd rather replace the housing than the tcase so i guess i'll find another aluminum one.
