Default oil filter smh

Went to go change the oil this morning on my 96 12v oil filter would not budge. first time changing the oil since i had the truck. Tried everything I put a screw driver thru it out of desperation to get it off. But the filter collapsed and now all thats left is the top of the filter. It is cross threaded on there bad i can get it to spin but she willnt bite the threads i tap on it when spining it i have tried everything. So the help i need from you guys is where do i get a new set up where the filter screws on i need that whole piece. thanks fellas !

I would go to the Cummins dealer for parts as they are usually cheaper than Dodge. When you put it back together ALWAYS put a film of oil or grease on the o-ring on the filter, it makes it easier to get off the next time. Good luck.

wide mouth filter pliers are the best ever, adjustable too, pinch it right at the top where the metal is doubled and rolled

Have you tried a strap wrench?

Better yet, the vice grips with the chain on them (again put it as close to the double rolled lip as possible)

That or a big flat blade screwdriver (a good sharp one) and a hammer. Put the screwdriver on the double rolled lip at the top and use the hammer to turn the filter.

Or get a new filter head.

Cummins dealer for the new part. But since the filer edge hangs out past the hub I'd take a hammer and flatblade screw driver and deform the lip down all the way around. It might deform it enough to grab new thread or enough that it might slid off. Other way you well past the point of no return and it's worth alil more to try to wreck it then give up.
