Cracked Timing Gear Cover
keep searching on here, someone had a link to a site that sold the gear cases for $98 or some crazy price, they were aftermarket but new and they were identical according to him, I had it saved in my favorites but I lost it when my comp died last fall
Here's the thread with the vid jazzercise posted it up first
https://www.dieselbombers.com/dodge-...ome-video.html and as for removing the gear vs the whole cam that's news to me.

IDK...I was always told the cam has to come out to get the gear off....the front cover is just stamped sheet metal....the case part itself is cat aluminum I think.....I guess if you can take the cam gear off with the cam in the engine and replace it then you wouldn't have to pull the cam...I have never attempted it so I don't know for sure....just what i have always been told.
to replace the casing, the cam has to come out cuz the gear n the cam itself are 1 piece. if you pulled the cam gear off, you'd have to have extremely precise marks so you could get your valve timing correct. pullin the cam really isn't as scary as it seems, n it has to be done if ur gonna replace the case. the injection pump gear will come off with a puller
