The 5th gear problem has been fixed up now by a new part developed and patented by Dan at http://www.quad4x4.com/ He is probably one of the best in the country for these manual trannies. If your serious about this conversion he sells his own rebuilt trannies and the complete kits to do the conversions with. They are not cheap but from the prices I'm seein here for the auto rebuilds his cost is nothin and a good South Bend clutch will last forever as long as your not usin for sled pulls. Ive got a good 150,000 on mine and I do alot of heavy pullin with this truck. I can't even make this clutch slip yet unless I'm doin something really stupid.

Im getting my tranny rebuilt right now and he said it would hold 500+hp, and he quoted me around 4200.

Forget the billet shafts unless you are going to race, or sled. I just had mine done for $3200 by my local Trans shop with warranty and a real person 10 miles away that will be standing by the build. Time and miles will only tell. Running what is in my sig plus a 3000GSK goes in this week.

Better to have it and not need it,than need it and not have it.

I do quotes for Brockport transmission, i had them build my last 47re and my current truck will be getting a 5disc TC installed there soon. Located just outside of Rochester NY, i know the owner personally and my truck will never go to any other transmission shop

The level one transmission would be a nice set up for you including a billet single disc converter and 3 year unlimited mileage warranty for under $2,700

I would be more than happy to fax or mail a quote to you for level 1/2/3 transmissions, i could maybe even give it to you in person as i will be in York Beach the week after next, thanks,
-Jared

swaping to a manual trans will cost just the same as getting your auto rebuilt
