Default STEERING ISSUES

My 93 w 250 has serious slop in the steering and it does not want to turn at low speeds. could all this be caused by the pump? what steering issues are common on these trucks?

I just found a joint that fit on the spiles on the box and then got a u-joint and welded it together. No slop at all!

Where did you find the joint to fit the splines?

also check to make sure that the steering box isnt loose or something broken at the mounting points, also make sure your front crossmember isnt loose.....my front crossmember was loose and it caused a slight wander, after it was fixed it was great....

I'll try and get ahold of my buddy, he ordered it, he did it to his dodge and that's why I did it to mine as I had real bad slop.

Thanks guys, this info is very helpful. I am going to check the cross member and things to make sure there are no other problems.

Did you have a slip joint in there? I am wondering if I can go to the junk yard and find every thing from the rag joint down to the box splines from a donor vehicle that had a regular u-joint coming straight off the box. The hard part would be knowing which make of steering boxes had the same size splines.
