looking for recommendations on an AR build

for back up sights i love the troy DOA with tritium $250
for a rail i like the troy battle rail $149 you can find qaud rails alot cheaper tho
I think a 14 in barrel is the shortest you can get otherwise it will be a sbr and thats class 3 and you will have to wait 6 months for a tax stamp or you will have to make it a pistol.
and i would not recomend that uper cause it does not have a chrome lined barrel so it would be less accurate and it would have less longevity. also it does not have a bolt or carrior. and it has a fixed front sight i think its better to have a gas block sight when you run a optic so you can flip the front down. this is what i look for in a upper chrome lined barrel or stainless, forward assist, dust cover, nice bolt and carrior, some come with rails already to so thats a plus, and warranty
also you may want to look into an gas piston instead of gas inpingment if you do not want to clean it as much as ur service rifle

I've been told chrome lined barrels are only required if you are putting A LOT of lead down range. When I finally get around to building mine, I was planning on a standard barrel. Also they say the chrome lined barrels don't foul as quick as the non-lined barrels, so if you're going to go a long time in between cleaning (which I don't assume you would be), chrome would be better. As far as accuracy goes, the chrome ones aren't quite as accurate because it's near impossible to get a perfectly even chrome lining.

To me my understanding is chrome if you are a high volume shooter...1K rounds a day or every couple days...don't need chrome if ya ain't going to put thousands of rounds down range...Chrome easier to clean than non chrome...look at who double chromes the barrels...the name of the company...they are all top tier companies...
Stainless steel accurate...my LaRue Stealth has a stainless barrel...some say at -40 stainless get's brittle....they don't shoot as accurate at lower temps...
Stainless shoots out sooner and needs replaced sooner...if you shoot for accuracy and want a min of eyeball at 500 yards....
But then you have the M4 cutout controversy....

What's all the rage is the Battle Comp Enterprises, LLC whatever ya go with this is reported to be the **** and then some..I don't have one but really want to get one...bad..and I hate brakes...
Magpul MBUIS are great & cheap...Troy are really good but expensive...stay away from all things marked ARMS...cheap garbage...
Look down a few posts, you will see one from me about a Aimpoint Micro T1 on sale at Midway...this is the best of the best micro red dot, better than the other Aimpoints or the EoTech's..lots of people like the eotech's but they are 2nd tier compared to the T1...
Plan to spend a couple hours...they might not be the most nicest people all the time (depending on how busy) , but if you go in, tell em you are back from a deployment & want to build a M4 clone on your lower receiver they will work with you...most are mil/leo or related to such...they don't deal well with the know it all gunshop tool who comes in...spends hours looking and think he knows it all...talking ****
- thinking maybe i will go with a complete upper, but not certain yet. definitely an a4 flattop upper, maybe such as this:
DSA ZM4 Forged 7075T6 A3 AR15 Upper Receiver-D S Arms
DSA ZM4 Forged 7075T6 A3 AR15 Upper Receiver-D S Arms

Go to http://noveskerifleworks.com/cgi-bin...y2.cgi?cat=106
Compare uppers between stainless and chrome lined...
They also offer a mil/leo discount...
Look at the uppers from https://centurionarms.com/ he is a active duty SEAL...might take a while to build em...but they are ubber accurate & he has deployed with his MK12Mod 0 upper...in a war zone he get's barrels nobody else can for the 18" same as the barrels the SEAL shooters use...
If you get a upper from either of these guys...they are none better...I've got a friend with a Centurion upper...woza...
My next AR is a 14.5 M4 clone...and I want the BC on it...Noveske will do em, you just need to call, not sure about Centurion...
