You shoot to stop the threat, what stopping the threat is differs every time.

On a side note, watch the language please everyone. I've had to edit a couple posts. We are not in the Badlands so no cussing please.
it's all in the way you word your statement when you give it to the cops. you never say I shot to kill the bad person you always say I shot the bad person to stop them from hurting my family of myself!! plus he had the option to live all he had to do was stop bleed'n .

The rifle he had was a fully automatic Ruger Mini 14, I've shot them before, it's lots like shooting a M16....same caliber...same bullet...same dead goblins...

He also had a pistol or 2....

Does anyone have any input on that? ? ?

Yeah and I heard theres a pot of gold at the end of every rainbow.

This is one of the most moronic things I have ever heard. You keep on believing every "My cousins boyfriend told me..." story out there and you will be living in a fantasy world.

Exactly. You always shoot to stop the threat and nothing more. You can't drop him to the ground than walk up and put one in his head for good measure. That's called an execution and you WILL go to prison.

Now if you are forced to shoot the bad guy 15 times to stop his attack and he ends up dying in the process, his death is the result of HIS actions, not yours.

That's a little harsh isn't it? He had a legitimate concern he wanted addressed and though it may be "moronic", it very well may be the truth in his jurisdiction.

Now on the same note, using HAND-LOADED ammunition in an otherwise justified shooting has sent many men to prison. Many prosecutors have been able to "prove" pre-meditated intent by "going out of your way to personally manufacture and assemble ammunition with the sole purpose of shooting somebody." Doesn't matter if it's a FMJ ball round. If you loaded it yourself and put it in your carry or defense piece, it's there with the "pre-meditated intent" to shoot somebody. At least that will be the prosecutor's argument.

Bottom line: Factory-loaded ammo in your defense guns. NO EXCEPTIONS. I know it's B.S. but why throw a bone to the guy who is trying to put you in prison for the rest of your life?
