I'd say 870 or Mossy 500 or 590. Pump guns are definitely more reliable! Tons of aftermarket parts and accessories for them plus they're pretty inexpensive. You can buy a new one set up as a tactical gun(costs a little more) or you can get a regular plain jane one and build it yourself.
I have an old 870 Wingmaster that I'm working on as I get extra funds to do so. If you go with the 870, I got a stock and forend I'd be willing to sell.

Not to mention that the sound a pump gun makes! Bad guy breaks in, you grab the pump shotgun and rack a shell, if bad guy hears you, he'll probably be gone before you get to him(if he has any brain cells left at least.)

Let me start by saying that SEMI-AUTO is the way to go, WHY cause you can shot it fast & you don't have to remove it from your sight to rack it for the next shot, you can shoot it from the prone position without having to expose yourself by having to rack it for each shot. My SHTF shotgun is the two BENELLI M1 SUPER 90 with 18.5 inch barrel, RIFLE SIGHT, PISTOL GRIP, EXTENDED MAG TUBE,

Bad guy doesn't the courtesy of a warning rack. If thought he was bad enough to break into my place to start, he can be badass enough to two what's coming without the warning sound. I know it's all about if you have kids and can safely keep a round loaded, but with myself, I can always have my personal protection weapon locked, cocked and ready to rock
