Not exactly like that. While I feel that is SHOULD be how it goes, you need to cover your *** if possible.

Bobby I believe in the old west days, respect my family, house, & truck & I won't have any problems, but if some one try to hurt my family or car jack me. Then the evil will become me

I hear you. And if it comes to spending a long time in jail to protect my family so be it. I'm gonna try and prevent that though.

With that said, Lets not turn a "what kinda shotgun you like?" thread into anything more then that.

My SHTF shotgun is the two BENELLI M1 SUPER 90 with 18.5 inch barrel, RIFLE SIGHT, PISTOL GRIP, EXTENDED MAG TUBE,

  • Just Plain Look Evil
  • Foldable Stock Keeps It Short
  • Pistol Grip, Fore Grip Available

Any of the guns listed in here would make a good home gun. All in what you like best. Also there is a school of thought that IF you do use a "tactcool" gun in defence some scum of a lawyer can say you were a "Rambo" out looking for someone to shoot. Thats why my pistol is my first line of defence and my mossburg 500 is second. The Sagia is for when it gets real bad, its in the safe.

Here is my Saiga... A quad rail is next on the list to hang a light and maybe a fore grip.

With 10 rnd Mag

With 20 rnd Drum

Folded With 10 rnd Mag (Don't mind the mess, I'm in the middle of building a AK47 and some other guns and the Gun room is destroyed )
Could you point me to a site i can get some price quotes? Thats basically what i want. I also like the mossberg "cruiser". I have thought about turning my .410 into a home protection shotty but i want a little more.

YouTube - AA-12. World's deadliest shotgun!
That AA-12 is awesome, it has almost no lift when you shoot it

I see your guys points on the "warning rack" and other than being down one round, I hadn't thought of most of them. I have an extended mag tube on my 870 so having it chamber empty still leaves me with 7 rounds. Now that my sisters kids aren't running around my house anymore, I keep my 870 and my XD fully loaded with one in the chamber. My XD sits on my nightstand at night because its easier for me to get around the house with. My 870 still has the 28" hunting barrel on it, and with the way my house is setup, I come out of my room and there's the front door. Even with my adjustable stock in the shortest length, its still too long. That's why I practice with my pistol every chance I get.

PLMCRZY, have you thought about getting a concealed weapons permit and carrying a pistol? Then you'd have something on you at all times if/when you needed it.

Saigas are pretty neat but the only thing I can see having a problem with in a HD situation is the size of those mags, they're huge. I know that if I didn't run around my house and train with, I'd be catching it on all kinda of stuff. Yes, I realize that the 12ga shotshell if a big round but I think you'd be better off with a tube fed gun with a tube extension. Depending on the gun and extension size, 7-9 rounds of 00 buck should be plenty. Just my .02

But if you're all for capacity and a short overall length for a HD gun, you can't beat the 7+7+1 round count of the new Kel-Tec KSG.

I have No problems with the mags. They hang straight down. You can also use the factory 5 round or buy a 8 rounder. I
