HI 94Matt, You don't need to remove the hand guard, it should say near the tip of the barrel.

HI 94Matt, Since it has a 24 inch barrel, I would think the most accurate bullets are going to be the heavy ones. Try FEDERAL GOLD MATCH in 69gr. & 77gr. now a box of these 20 rounds will cost you about $15.00, But you can buy these weights from other makers for about $9.00, hopefully your rifle will shoot the lighter 55gr. & 62 gr. bullets accrate too. My COLT ELITE CAR3 rifle will put 3 bullets touching at 100 yards.

Bushy's are a great gun for the money....good pick up.

The tubular forend (I think) should slide off over the gas tube towards the front of the barrel. It should have a couple screws in it holding it on. The barrel free floats inside it and is only held in by the nut at the rear.

My local "gun guy" is the 2007 Bushmaster Dealer of the Year...if you have any questions I can put you in contact with him.

HI 94Matt, Your BUSHMASTER has a 1/9 twist barrel, you should do great with most bulllets, I think your best accurcy will be with bullets weighting 69 gr. and lower, HAVE FUN with the new rifle !!!
